Cameron Strouss: Event Leader Bio
Cameron Strouss is the founder of Deep Roots School of Foraging & Herbal Medicine in Birmingham, Alabama, where she's spent 17+ years studying plants and 9 years in clinical practice and 13 years teaching people how to utilize herbal medicines safely and effectively. She holds a BS in Biology, is a Registered Herbalist (RH) with the American Herbalists Guild — where she also serves on the Board of Directors — and is a Certified Aromatherapist and Master Gardener. Her teaching style is rooted in the Southeast (she grows and forages in Central Alabama), grounded in both traditional plant wisdom and current research, and built around one core idea — if you can cook, you can make herbal medicine. Cameron has taught thousands of students through her online programs and in-person events, including the Southeastern Foraging Conference, and she's known for making clinical herbalism feel accessible, science-backed, and fun. When she's not in the apothecary, garden or woods, she's probably outside with her daughter, Wren, looking for something worth nibbling on.
Tickets
$80 per person; Foraging Journals will be available for a $35 cash only purchase.
All participants will be required to register for this event and to complete a waiver for Rising Fawn Gardens before the workshop.
Forest Bathing at Rising Fawn Gardens
Description
Join María Gonzalez, an ANFT certified forest bathing guide, for a gentle, guided walk celebrating this season of “great greening.”
Forest Bathing is a therapeutic practice rooted in the restorative healing power of nature. The essence of Forest Bathing lies in its simplicity – it is an invitation to be fully present, deeply engage all the senses, and soak up the wonder and awe that nature bestows.
As spring softens into the vibrant energy of early summer, the forest reaches a beautiful threshold. It’s lush, green, and full of life. The canopy is full, the air is rich with the scent of growth, and the woods invite us to slow down.
This is not a strenuous hike. It’s an invitation to pause. Through the practice of Shinrin-yoku (forest bathing), María will guide us in engaging all five senses, helping us step away from the rush of daily life and reconnect with the vitality of the natural world. A tea ceremony will follow the walk.
No hiking experience required, just a willingness to slow down and be present.
Come breathe the forest and reconnect with yourself and the land.
