Spring Farm & Forest Day at Rising Fawn Gardens

Join us at Rising Fawn Gardens for our cherished Spring Farm & Forest Day on Saturday, March 23rd. It’s a day dedicated to our shared love for the land, open to folks of all ages! Pack a picnic,  relax by the creek, wander our trails and take note of the Trillium, Wild Geranium, Trout Lily, Shooting Star, and Bluebells! Please join one of the many walks offered throughout the day as you soak in the beauty of spring. It’s a day to celebrate nature’s abundance and the joy of community. Come, and be a part of this special day filled with discovery, joy, and the magic of spring. 

Event Details:

  • – The farm gate will be open from 9:30 a.m. – 2 p.m.
  • $10 per car guest fee (up to 4 people). A portion of the proceeds will be donated to Hand Up Ministry. You are also welcome to pay on arrival with cash, check, or card.
  • – This is a family-friendly and pet-friendly event. If you would like to bring your pet, we kindly request that they remain on a leash while at the farm. 
  • – Bring a folding chair for sitting by the creek, a yummy picnic, and your favorite wildflower app or guidebook as you meander and explore along the creek and through the woods.
  • – There will be a herbal tea tasting at 1 p.m. that will be open to anyone who’d like to join!
  • – Perennial plants will be available for sale. See list below.

Event Schedule:

9:30 a.m. – Gate opens for registration and check-in

10:30 – 11:30 a.m. & 12:30 p.m.– 1:30 p.m.- Christine Bock Hunt, Guided Plant  Walk*
Christine Bock Hunt worked at the Tennessee Aquarium for 30 years as lead Horticulturist. She led medicinal and folklore walks in the Great Smoky Mountains Wildflower Pilgrimage for over 20 years, and now leads wildflower walks at Desoto Park in Alabama for their spring wildflower festival. She will lead the guided tours and you will hear folklore and stories about plants, trees, butterflies, and birds that we see.

10:30 – 11:30 a.m.Delilah Miske, Medicinal Gardens Tour*
Delilah Miske, Gardens Manager at Rising Fawn Gardens, will lead a group in touring our medicinal and production gardens where she will explore the cultivation practices and health benefits of the plants we grow and use in our RFG products. 

11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.Naomi Griffin, “Outside Voices” a Singing Circle
Naomi Griffin Self is a Chattanooga native and regularly facilitates singing circles in Chattanooga and Knoxville, TN where she shares in the art of supporting community connection through the exploration of songs, rhythms, rounds, layer songs, and chants. “Outdoor Voices” is an opportunity for participants to use their voices outdoors in song. In this 60-minute facilitated Singing Circle session we will meander throughout the gardens, drop into our bodies, notice sounds, and sing with delight and presence at our shared creative experience. All voices are welcome; no singing experience is necessary. songs are taught in a call and echo style and every voice is a perfect part of the whole! 

1 p.m. – 2 p.m.Karen Persinger, Land Conservation & Herbal Tea Time
Karen Persinger, owner of Rising Fawn Gardens, will be providing complimentary teas and treats so you can experience the tastes and energetics of the herbal plants we cultivate. Her focus will be on Ginger and Turmeric, as well as, providing samples of a tisane blend. This time will also be open to answering your questions and discussing the land conservation we practice at Rising Fawn Gardens. 

*Spaces for these activities are limited and will be available on a first-come, first-serve basis. Sign-up will be available at registration during the event.

Perennial plants for sale:
Nettle, Lemon Balm, Anise Hyssop, Catnip, Spearmint, Monarda fistulosa (purple), Monarda didyma (red), Comfrey, Jewels of Opar, Clary Sage, Yarrow, Motherwort, Peppermint, Hops, Elderberry, Hyssop officinalis, St. John’s Wort, Self Heal

Plants will be sold in pint containers for $5.00.
